چکیده
Abstract A wave-group-resolving model is used to investigate the driving mechanisms and spatiotemporal variability of very low frequency (VLF) fluctuations a headland deflection rip, measured during 4-m oblique wave event. Surfzone eddies (SZE) occurring in presence strongly sheared longshore current V at longshore-uniform beach are first modeled. The spectral signature SZE displayed compared with literature. then explore dynamics vorticity surf zone against under energetic conditions. resulting weakly found host large-scale propagating toward speed decreasing seaward. Vorticity animations diagrams indicate that VLF rip driven by upstream SZE. In line measurements, periods from 40 min 1 h dominate spectrum hundreds meters tide. At high tide, spectra much narrower than zone, suggesting enforces merging This mechanism further analyzed using idealized simulations varying lengths, aiming extending traditional patterns scale. Finally, we discuss existence continuum mechanisms, going fully wave-group-driven both wave-group- shear-instability-driven for , respectively. suggests importance groups produce

High‐latitude geomagnetically induced current events observed on very low frequency radio wave receiver systems
[1] Noise burst events observed at Sodankylä, Finland, in the frequency range 20–25 kHz during January–April 2005 last up to 4 s, occur more often at midnight, are associated with high geomagnetic activity, and exhibit a quasi‐constant amplitude perturbation ∼15 dB above the background noise levels. We considered the possibility that the events could be caused by lightning noise breakthrough. T...
متن کاملModeling of very low frequency motions during RIPEX
[1] Numerical computations are used to explain the presence of very low frequency motions (VLFs), with frequencies less than 0.004 Hz, in the rip current velocity signals observed during the Rip-current field Experiment (RIPEX) field experiment. Observations show that the VLF motions are most intense within the surfzone and then quickly taper off in the offshore direction. By comparing computed...
متن کاملLocal kinetic energy budget of high-frequency and intermediate- frequency eddies: winter climatology and interannual variability
The local budget of eddy kinetic energy (EKE) for both high-frequency (HF, 2–6 days) and intermediatefrequency (IF, 7–29 days) eddies are evaluated for Northern Hemisphere boreal winter using the 31-year (1979/ 80–2010/11) NCEP-DOE reanalysis. A new form of EKE equation is used to isolate the kinetic energy generation/ destruction due to interactions among eddies of different timescales. The ma...
متن کاملFinite Element Analysis of Tissue Conductivity during High-frequency and Low-voltage Irreversible Electroporation
Introduction: Irreversible electroporation (IRE) is a process in which the membrane of the cancer cells are irreversibly damaged with the use of high-intensity electric pulses, which in turn leads to cell death. The IRE is a non-thermal way to ablate the cancer cells. This process relies on the distribution of the electric field, which affects the pulse amplitude, width, and electrical conducti...
متن کاملHigh Frequency Intensity Fluctuations
Intensity fluctuations were measured during August 2002 near San Diego using 20 and 40 kHz cw and fm signals. Source-receiver separation was 1km; source depths were 10m to 67m; receiver hydrophone depths were 44m to 217m. A 15-element chain of CTD sensors was towed to measure horizontal temperature and salinity with 1m resolution. Comparing the spectra of the acoustic intensity fluctuations and...
